The Woodstock Carnival will take over the Woodstock Fairgrounds this weekend and there will be several COVID-19 safety measures in place.
WOODSTOCK - The carnival is coming to Woodstock starting today.
Campbell Amusements is bringing the midway to the Fairgrounds for four days. Manager Stew Bell says they wanted to continue the tradition by bringing the midway to town.
"We have something for everybody, we have games and food and rides, standard promotions are in place, Thursday (today) is toonie day, where all the rides are just $2 per ride. Then on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you can buy individual bracelets that will be good for the entire day."
Entrance is free, but you have to pay to go on the rides and you will be screened at the door for COVID. Stew says they will have several COVID-19 precautions in place and all staff are tested for COVID-19 prior to the event, so you can assure they are COVID free for the weekend.
"Everyone is masked, the rides are spaced out, there is a lot more space available at the fairgrounds this year, which is a real bonus because we have to keep everything separated for physical distancing, the rides only operate with a lesser capacity."
Bell says they will have about the same number of rides this year, but they will be spaced out more in order to comply with COVID-19 safety measures. He says they're also bringing a few gems that haven't been to Woodstock in years including the Gondola Ferris Wheel which stands at about 80 feet high.
This is not the typical fair as it will not have anything other than the midway, carnival games and eats.
