The City of Woodstock has sent a draft Boundary Adjustment Proposal to Norwich Township Council.
Norwich Township Council will be reviewing a draft Boundary Adjustment Proposal from the City of Woodstock in the near future.
Woodstock Council voted unanimously to send the proposal over to Norwich Thursday evening.
The proposal is 1,400 acres of land in the area of the Highway 401/Highway 403 overpass. The lands are currently owned by the Township but could become City lands if the boundary adjustment takes place.
Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch believes the adjustment would not only benefit Woodstock and Norwich, but all of Oxford County.
"We have been experiencing unprecedented growth in our commercial and industrial sectors and we are quickly running out of land supply. This will give us an opportunity to install services and allow for some potential new developments as well."
If Norwich Township approves the draft proposal, Birtch says a public meeting process would get underway.
"All of the individuals in the area will be able to look at all of the information, ask any questions and have that are answered by both the City of Woodstock and the Township of Norwich."
Two reports will be sent to Norwich Township Council. Both of which have the same recommendation but one of them has more in-depth background detail.
