Kerry Jarvi is going to be working closely with the Downtown Woodstock BIA and its members as the new downtown development officer for the Friendly City.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock now has a downtown development officer.
Kerry Jarvi just started her new job this week and she brings 10 years of working with the Downtown Hamilton Business Improvement Area to the table.
Here in the Friendly City, she's going to be in charge of implementing all of the actions outlined in the Downtown Development Plan. It lays out the overall vision for the downtown core and a roadmap on how to get there. The plan also highlights five strategic directions and 18 key tactics in order to realize them. The strategic directions are as follows:
- Beautify the Downtown
- Attract and Retain Businesses
- Change the Perception of the Downtown
- Celebrate and Enhance Cultural Resources
- Clarify and Enhance Policies
Jarvi is going to be working very closely with the Downtown Woodstock BIA and its members. She says the key to success is strong collaboration.
“We can achieve much better results if we are all working together. That’s why we’ll work to set short- and long-term objectives that will bring more people downtown and build on the things that are already working.”
