A 43 year old from Woodstock is one of 25 people arrested in what police are calling a large scale international drug trafficking network.
WOODSTOCK - A Woodstock man is one of 33 people charged in a massive international drug bust.
Project Cheetah led the seizure of $2.3 million in drugs, including 10 kilograms of cocaine, eight kilograms of ketamine, three kilograms of heroin and 2.5 kilograms of opium. Earlier this month police in Ontario, B.C and California executed 50 search warrants which led to 33 people being charged with over 130 criminal offences. Officers also seized 48 firearms in the bust and $730,000 in cash.
The investigation started last May with investigators from York Regional Police, RCMP, Peel Regional Police and the U.S Drug Enforcement Administration. Police are calling this a large scale international drug trafficking network that extended to Western Canada, the United States and India.
The drugs were then distributed across the country through a sophisticated system run by the traffickers.
Most of the people charged are from the GTA, including 19 people from Brampton.
Locally 43 year old Sarbjit Singh was arrested in the bust and charged with 4 counts of trafficking Ketamine, conspiracy to traffic Ketamine and possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
