The public will get a chance to visit the Woodstock Museum after they added a new look to their second floor.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Museum will officially open their exhibition gallery on Family Day after renovating their second floor.
Their staff has moved their permanent galleries and education space from the main floor to the second floor.
Curator Karen Houston says the renovation opens up more space to do activities.
"It's a number of things; we also have an enlarged educational area now so what that means is we can have two classes in at the museum at one time, we can have more kids come in, we can have a bigger space for events that other people are renting the space or that we are holding ourselves."
Houston adds there is more space for the gallery on the second floor, highlighting the history of the Woodstock.
Houston says the second floor will be open to the public on Family Day and it will feature different activities for families to play, including a visual scavenger hunt.
"We have a lot more artifacts out than what we've had in the past, about three times as many as what we used to and so we really wanted people to look at them in a different way. So we've taken really up-close photos of them and then they have to figure out, 'what is it I'm looking at, where is it?' So we'll ask them questions. There'll be a photo of some place in the downtown from the 1860s and they have to figure out, 'what is it I'm looking at?', find it in the exhibit and then there'll be a text card beside it that tells you what you're looking at. So they get to look at things a little differently."
The Woodstock Museum will host their Family Day event on February 18th. The event runs from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
