Over the long weekend police charged a cyclist involved in a crash and a man was charged with assault with a weapon.
WOODSTOCK - It was a busy long weekend for Woodstock Police.
On Friday, October 7th around 4 p.m. they were called to the scene of a crash between a bike and a car at Butler and Hay St. The cyclist was charged with disobeying a stop sign.
Later on that day around 8:15 p.m. a 40 year old Woodstock man was walking with a 33 year old Woodstock woman along Dundas St. A 28 year old Woodstock man began to yell at the older man. While the two argued the 28 year old pulled out a black BB type handgun and hit the 40 year old in the left eye. The older man fell to the ground and the 28 year old continued to beat him before fleeing. With the help of the K9 unit officers were able to find the suspect and charged him with assault with a weapon. The older man was treated for minor injuries.
And around 7 p.m. on holiday Monday a homeowner on Princess Street saw a man come onto his property and steal a garden bench. The police were called and a 27 year old Woodstock man was charged with theft and breach of probation.
Over the course of the long weekend Woodstock Police also conducted RIDE programs, but no charges were laid.
