Woodstock Police dealt with 10 crashes, drunk drivers and outstanding warrants over the weekend.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police responded to 149 calls for service over the weekend.
They responded to 10 motor vehicle collisions during that time. Luckily nobody was seriously injured in any of the crashes. Police are reminding motorists to drive according to weather conditions. Several of the collisions were the result of drivers not adjusting to snow covered and slippery roads on Friday morning.
Police also found and arrested a 21 year old man wanted on an outstanding warrant held by Brantford Police. Officers also arrested a 32 year old man who was wanted by the Oxford OPP. Both men were arrested and turned over to the other police services.
Early Saturday morning officers stopped a vehicle on Norwich Ave. The driver, a 51 year old man from Woodstock had been drinking according to police. He was arrested and charged with a DUI. Meanwhile early Sunday morning policed handed out a 3 day suspension to another driver on Juliana Drive. Police say he was in the warn range during a road side screening test.
If you are planning on drinking please plan ahead have a designated driver, take a taxi or phone a sober friend or family member to pick you up. The small cost of a taxi can save you thousands of dollars in legal fees, tow costs and administrative fees not to mention prevent the tragedy of a collision resulting in injuries or death to yourself or someone else. Please don't drink and drive.
