Police are looking for the public's help as they try to solve several arsons downtown at Museum Square earlier this month.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are still searching for the people responsible for setting several fires downtown earlier this month.
The first fire happened sometime between 11:15 p.m. on October 1 and 1:45 a.m. on October 2. Over that time period, Woodstock emergency crews responded to three separate fires that took place in the area of Museum Square.
Then on October 7, around 11:40 pm, Police and Fire were called to another blaze downtown at Museum Square. Luckily a good samaritan put out the fire, before it could spread.
At least one of these fires was set underneath a gas line and could have destroyed the Museum. This sparked a huge outcry in the community and led Woodstock City council to hire 24/7 security downtown and remove all of the benches. You can read more about that online here.
Police have also increased patrols and surveillance in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police at 519-537-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Police have released surveillance footage of the incidents, which you can see below:
