WOODSTOCK - Heart FM joined the Woodstock Police Service to be #FreezinForAReason at the Polar Plunge!
The plunge took place at Fanshawe College Woodstock Campus earlier today. Members of the community took a jump into freezing cold water in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
There were about 15 people registered to take the plunge, not including the WPS jumpers. Fanshawe College also had a team being represented by students across all programs. Heart FM news reporter Keasha Maile was joined by students from the hairstyling program during her plunge!
Community Services Officer Shaylyn Jackson says they are still looking to hit their goal.
"Yesterday we were over $3,000, which is just fantastic. Our goal in the long run is to raise $10,000."
After the plunge took place, donations raised were up to $6,200.
Jackson says that they will be accepting donations all months for the cause.
"Even if you are unable to come out today or unable to contribute today the fundraising options through the link online will be available right through March."
