We asked the people of Woodstock how they feel about the changes to the Universal Child Care Benefits.
ONTARIO - With a federal election looming on the horizon the Conservative Government has made changes to child benefits.
The Universal Child Care Benefit has been revised to give parents $60 cheques every month for kids between the ages of 6 and 17, and $160 for children 5 and under. Although the amount of money has increased, Woodstock residents are not sold on the benefit just yet.
Parents that sign up for the UCCB now will receive one cheque dating back for the months they missed since January.
Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is campaigning to give $6 400 a year to families who have children under 5 and up to $5 400 for kids who are 6-17.
Tom Mulclair's NDP party have promised they would create 1 million child care spaces and a $15 a day child care program.
The money is already being sent out to families either in cheque form or by direct deposit, and those looking to apply can do so by following this link from the Canadian Revenue Agency http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/tf/rc66/README.html
