Dave Jenkin placed first in the men's 70-74 age group at the World Age Group Triathlon Championships, while Janet Thompson came in second place for the women's 70-74 age group.
WOODSTOCK - We have some new world champions in Woodstock.
Dave Jenkin and Janet Thompson with the Woodstock Triathlon Club were in Montreal on Saturday June 25th and Sunday June 26th, competing at the World Age Group Triathlon Championships.
Jenkin placed first in the 70-74 men's age group with a final time of 1:20:18, only 10 seconds ahead of the second-place winner.
Thompson on the other hand came second in the ladies 70-74 age group. She was pretty happy with her time of 1:36:07.
"So I was 8th out of the water in my age group which is definitely an improvement. I was 8th on the bike, and then I was the fastest runner, and I was pretty pleased with that."
Both Thompson and Jenkin have returned to the Friendly City, and Jenkin says they're already training for their next big race.
"We're both going to the Toronto Triathlon Festival race in July which is to qualify for next year's World Championship in Hamburg, Germany and that's pretty exciting."
The Woodstock Triathlon Club has congratulated both Thompson and Jenkin on their hard work and accomplishments.
