Time to Chill is collecting new teddy bears in remembrance of 4 month old Alexander Fleming
WOODSTOCK - Time To Chill is ready to support the 6th Annual Baby Alex Teddy Bear Drive.
Alexander Fleming was 4 months old when he died of his injuries after a car he was in was hit by an impaired driver. Owner of Time To Chill, Sandra Pereira, is hoping to see more bears collected as this isn't her first year taking part in the cause. "Last year we did a teddy bear drive - we collected teddy bears and anyone who brought one in received a free soft serve ice cream cone. The bears will go to Mary and her Baby Alex Teddy Bear Drive."
Pereira wants to keep the issue alive after baby Alex lost his life. "It is a terrible tragedy that happened to this woman. I couldn't imagine it happening to myself, being a single mother. I'd want people to reach out and help me. Mary distributes them to the sick kids hospital so we collect only new teddy bears in order for her to be able to hand them out in memory of her son."
The Springbank Plaza location is open 7 days a week and is looking for this year's drive to be bigger and better than ever. "I'd like to get 100 for her this year so I think we got at least 60 teddy bears last year. We are going to do it right 'til the end of October, like we did last year so the whole month of October. It is a great thing to show your support to Mary and baby Alex who was taken way too young."
