It's a story set in the 1950s that lots of families can relate to.
TILLSONBURG - A Norm Foster classic is about to hit the stage at Theatre Tillsonburg.
Hilda's Yard will make it's debut on Thursday, February 19th and run for two weekends with the final curtain call on Sunday, March 1st.
Tabitha Buckle is directing the play alongside Pete Matthew. She says it's a very relatable story set in the 50s.
"It's about a lovely couple that have just become empty nesters. They're super excited about it, so they celebrate by making a big purchase with a television set. Both of their adult children decide to move home and put a stop to that happiness there."
She says the entire play is set in the family backyard in the span of one evening. It has a total runtime of about 2.5 hours including a 15 minute intermission.
Kelly Verhoeve is producing the play alongside Joe Sheik. She is hoping people will dress according to the time period for the opening night performance next week.
"Put on your poodle skirt, your leather jacket, and slick back your hair! Get out those great clothes from the 1950s, come to the show and enjoy the refreshments after."
The opening night celebration will also include a meet and greet with the six cast members.
Tickets for Hilda's Yard cost $28 each and they can be purchased through the Theatre Tillsonburg website online here.
Tabitha Buckle and Kelly Verhoeve stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Tuesday February 10th. You can listen to the full interview below:
