OXFORD COUNTY - Residents in Ingersoll are being asked to be careful while drinking water today.
A boil water advisory has been issued to a select number of residents in Ingersoll after a water sample was reported to be contaminated with bacteria.
The affected area is Carnegie Street, George Street, Catherine Street and King Hiram Street to Bruce Street in Ingersoll.
There are approximately 100 users who are currently affected.
A team of Public Works and Public Health officials have begun sending notices to affected residents.
Affected residents are being asked to boil their drinking water or consume bottled water.
Residents affected should bring water to a rolling boil for one minute.
Boiled water can then be cooled and stored in clean containers. This water should be used for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, brushing teeth and making infant formula.
Residents will be notified when the water is safe to drink.
