Mississauga boy believed to be taken by his mother on Sunday.
***Matthew was located safely by Peel Regional Police in York Region Monday, the Amber Alert has been cancelled.***
Investigators from the Peel Regional Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating an 8 year-old boy from Mississauga.
Here is the Amber Alert issued by police Monday morning:
Matthew Zhang was last seen by his father at 10:00 a.m. on April 13, 2014, when he was dropped off at an address on Mississauga Valley Blvd, to visit his mother. Just before 5:00 p.m., his father contacted Wei Chen, the victim’s mother, who refused to return him. It is believed she has fled the jurisdiction with her son.
Matthew is described as 5'0" with a thin build and black hair
Wei Chen drives a 2005 Honda Accord, 4 door grey, Ontario license AVAM 009.
She is described as 5'6", 146 lbs with a thin build, brown eyes and black collar length hair.
Wei Chen does not have custody of the victim and is not able to care for him properly. She does not have family in Canada.
Investigators are very concerned for the safety of the victim.
