BBBS Oxford is looking to raise $20,000 in the first 20 days of March to support 20 new matches for it's traditional youth mentoring program.
OXFORD - Twenty is the magic number for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Oxford County.
Fund Development Manager Nicole Killaire tells us about their new fundraising campaign for the month of March.
"It's called 20 in 20 for 20. What we are looking to do is raise $20,000 in the first 20 days of March to open up 20 new matches."
It may seem like quite the challenge, but Killaire says it's simple when you break down the numbers.
"If one thousand people give just $20, a very manageable amount, we would reach our goal. That is less than one percent of the population in Oxford County."
A total of 147 youth are currently on the waitlist for the traditional one-on-one youth mentoring program.
Executive Director Kristen Ralph says the campaign will hit the ground running thanks to support to TD.
"We're grateful to TD for matching the first $5,000 donated; doubling the impact of every gift and helping us build early momentum. A matching gift is a game changer. That strong start can help us meet, and hopefully, exceed our goal right out of the gate for young people in Oxford County who are waiting for a mentor."
You can donate to the 20 in 20 for 20 campaign online here or in person at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office in Woodstock, Tillsonburg or Ingersoll.
Nicole Killaire stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Friday, March 6th. You can listen to the full interview below:
