BBBS of Woodstock and District invite the public to come out and get a taste of all things local at the 27th Tastings event tonight.
WOODTOCK - Big Brothers Big Sisters are hoping to tickle your taste buds with all things local at the 27th edition of the Tastings event.
Funds raised for this event will stay within the community to support programs for youth. Fundraising and Marketing Assistant, Kristen Ralph, is excited to hold another well attended night to support the organization. "It's the 27th year that we've been running Tastings; people can expect the great night that they always have. For those who have never attended we have local restaurants, breweries, wineries - we also have a vodka vendor. And they can come in with their admission price, they can sample all of the products available that night."
Ralph is always on the lookout for volunteers and hopes the Tastings event will attract new members. She would also like to draw attention to the online pre-auction: "There is also an online auction that is going on right now - they can bid on some prizes. There are about 27 prizes online. Everything from a flight to a signed Jake Muzzin hockey stick."
Ralph knows just how important this event is for the children in this area. "All of our funds stay local. So in Woodstock and District Area and it all goes towards our programming. We serve kids from 6-16 in various programs. In 2014 we saw a 53% increase in the number of kids we served. All of that money goes directly to programming to assist kids in need in our area."
The event will take place Friday May 8th at the Quality Hotel and Suites. Tickets are $50 at the door.
The online auction can be found here: http://www.32auctions.com/organizations/13741/auctions/22683?page=1&reset_filter=1
One of the prizes to be won is a co-hosting position with Lainger and Shelby here at Heart FM.
You can also set up a proxy to bid on your behalf during the live event
