We have lots of snow in Oxford County at the moment, but will it stick around for Christmas?
OXFORD - There's lots of snow outside right now, but it might not stay for long.
Gerald Cheng is a Meteorologist with Environment Canada and we asked him whether we'll have a white Christmas in Oxford County this year. This was his response.
"I cannot be sure because rain is coming for Thursday and Friday, so we'll see how the rain will affect the snow that's already there. That will determine if we're going to have a white Christmas."
We're also supposed to have a high of plus 5 on Thursday, but there is a chance of flurries with a high of minus 6 in the forecast for Friday. Environment Canada is predicting a chance of showers or flurries with a high of plus 2 on Saturday, and cloudy skies with a high of minus 1 on Sunday.
Even if we do have a bit of snow left after the weekend, Cheng says it won't look like that picturesque white Christmas we all dream of.
"It's going to be blocks of iced slush and that's not great either. So we need to see if the weather pattern will allow disturbances to come through after this big system on Thursday to give us some fresh snow."
