Police would like to remind parents and non-parents alike to be aware this holiday season, as children in Woodstock will be off school for the next two weeks.
WOODSTOCK - Christmas vacation has officially begun for the children of Woodstock, so police would like to remind all drivers to be aware and alert when driving in neighbourhoods known for having a strong youth presence.
Shaylyn Jackson, Community Service Officer for Woodstock Police, says that it's also important for parents and children to have a clear plan of what to do in order to stay safe over the holidays.
"Making sure that their children are safe when they're playing outside, but also if they're staying home while parents might be out running errands. Make sure that parents are talking with their kids about safety plans when kids are staying home, and making sure that they know who to call emergency contacts and not to answer the door and phone for strangers."
