A Woodstock Police Constable has been charged with careless driving, after a crash last weekend.
6-year Constable Crystal Hough was behind the wheel of a police cruiser that rear ended another vehicle on Devonshire late Friday night.
No one was hurt, and both vehicles suffered minor damage.
Hough has been charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act. It carries a $490 fine plus 6 demerit points. Woodstock Police Chief Rod Freeman says police handle investigations involving their officers like they would with any other crash. "We investigate a departmental collision to the same high standard that we investigate any collision in the city. And when an alleged traffic violation has occurred we lay the appropriate charge, and put the matter before the courts."
It's not the first traffic related issue for Hough.
It's not the first traffic related issue for Hough. She was convicted of discreditable conduct in 2011 after colliding with a parked car in Woodstock, and left the scene.
However, Woodstock Police Chief Rod Freeman tells Heart FM he doesn't relate one to the other. "No, I wouldn't connect those dots. Collisions happen, violations occur and people are held accountable for their actions behind the wheel. That's what's happened in this case, and I'm not in a position where I can make any comments on what's transpired in the past. Those issues have been dealt with."
