The Woodstock Police Service continues to address reports of open air drug use.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service seized about five grams of suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia in the downtown core recently.

This is while the officer was on bike patrol in the area of Dundas Street and Huron Street Wednesday morning.

In a post on Facebook, the police service wanted to make it clear that although substance use disorder is a serious health issue, it's still illegal to possess illicit drugs. The service has received complaints about open-air drug use and is taking action to address them. It assesses each situation individually, and takes enforcement action when it's deemed appropriate.

It says substance users in need to support can contact Oxford County Community Health Centre’s Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic.
