Oxford County's First Flu Shot Clinic Set for Wednesday.
Flu shot season is upon us.
Oxford County Public Health is set to roll out their first flu shot clinic next Wednesday, October 16th. It will be held at the Oxford Auditorium from 3-7PM.
The clinics will be held across the County, from Tavistock to Tillsonburg, between now and November 23rd.
Supervisor of Health Protection, Joanne Andrews says health officials are not sure how severe the flu will be this upcoming season. "We never know how severe the flu season will be. The vaccine is based on the types of flu that were circulating last year, and that's how it's formulated. This year it covers three different strains of flu."
Influenza is a respiratory illness that can lead to serious health complications, including pneumonia. Andrews says flu shots are recommended for everyone over six months of age, especially young children, pregnant women, seniors, people with weakened immune systems, and care providers of people in these groups.
