Michael Harding would like to return to Woodstock City Hall and Oxford County Council Chambers this fall.
WOODSTOCK - A former Woodstock Mayor is running for a city-county councillor position.
Michael Harding was the man in charge for two terms back in the 2000's.
During that time he played a role in bringing the Toyota Plant to Woodstock. Harding also helped introduce VON Sakura House.
"I'm very proud of the success of Sakura House, which a facilitated bringing together VON and Toyota. In addition, helping them secure a $1.2 million unsecured loan from the county to expand their operations. That was really good news."
Harding also made a presentation to the CRTC, supporting Heart FM and our condition of license to promote Woodstock and Oxford County.
Now after being away from municipal politics for eight years, Harding wants to return to both City Hall, and County Council Chambers.
"I am concerned about the quality of our representation on county council because it's becoming a little too comfortable there. What the county does or doesn't do will in the next four year determine our future prosperity as a city."
Harding believes we need to find local solutions to make housing more affordable for seniors retiring in the area; adding we can't afford to wait for provincial and federal funding.
