Oxford's Transition to Less Waste Organization is hosting a free clothing swap event
It's a fun concept that will help freshen your wardrobe while also lessening our environmental footprint.
Oxford's Transition to Less Waste organization is hosting a Free Clothing Pop Up Boutique in Ingersoll where locals can donate clothing and accessories they no longer need and have them given back out to the community free of charge.
President of Transition to Less Waste Emily Cude says it's a great way to reduce the environmental footprint in the County.
"I used to live in Toronto and a few of my friends there would do something they called the Really, Really Free Market and it was a really similar concept where they just gave clothing for free back to anyone that wanted it so I thought why not bring that to my hometown."
The group will also have a seamstress on site who will repair clothing for free as well so you don't have to throw something out just because it needs repairs.
"It's not just for those who can't just, you know, afford any clothing, it's just an idea of sharing and freshening up all of our wardrobes."
Cude says while this is a free exchange, any donations to their organization are appreciated.
She says all of the proceeds are going toward the purchase of reusable plates and other items to be used at all Ingersoll outdoor festivals.
"We would like to expand into beer mugs for the beer garden. We'd like to do reusable cutlery to replace the plastic cutlery. Just anything we can do to stop the disposable items from being used."
The Boutique is set to run Tuesday-Thursday from 10-5pm at Custom Concepts store in Ingersoll.
