The Oxford OPP responded to a weapons call, which turned into a teaching moment for 5 people.
TILLSONBURG - It was a weapons call for the Oxford OPP in Tillsonburg.
Yesterday at 10:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of people with weapons in a vehicle on Broadway. 5 people were detained while the investigation was conducted, and the weapons turned out to be toy guns.
The people, ranging from 16 to 20 years old, were released with warnings. A reminder is also being sent out by the Oxford OPP, which is displaying anything, in a public area, that resembles a weapon, is likely to generate a call to police. This type of incident creates undue stress for responding officers and members of the community.
