Oxford County is gearing up to show the public what they believe is the best way forward with the Sustainability Plan.
After over a year of research, planning, community consultation, and deliberation Oxford County is ready to unveil the Future Oxford Community Sustainability Plan.
The plan was developed by members of the community and it looks at how Oxford will manage community, environmental, and economic resources for Oxford County's future growth and well being. Warden David Mayberry tells Heart FM a lot of thought and input went into this plan and the group held consultation meetings across the County.
"And came up with the ideas of the people at the grassroots levels trying to make sure that they were hearing what people were saying and then develop the plan that would focus council on where the people wanted to go - where does the community say they want to be in the next 15 to 20 years."
Mayberry adds this is kind of a soft launch and eventually they will have a future Oxford website.
"A website for the vision but also it will be a web site for the forward motion all the activities happening will be attached to it as well. So if you want to know what Oxford County is doing on the energy front or what are they doing on the social front, all of those things will be there."
They will be unveiling the plan to the public on Wednesday October 28th ahead of the County council meeting at 6 p.m. The event will feature a guest speaker, presentations, and the Oxford County Cheese Trail.
