An issue with electronic power-steering assist prompts latest GM recall.
General Motors is recalling 1.5 million vehicles worldwide, including 145,700 in Canada.
The latest recall is in regards to the electronic power-steering assist which can suddenly stop working making the vehicle harder to steer.
GM has had no reports of deaths related to the defect and say they are continuing their investigation into whether or not there have been any accidents or injuries caused by the power-steering malfunctioning.
The vehicles affected by the recall include:
2004 - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, plus some from 2006, 2008 and 2009 model years
2004 - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx plus some from 2006 model year
2009 - 2010 Chevrolet HHR (non-turbocharged only).
2010 Chevrolet Cobalts
2008 - 2009 Saturn Auras
2004 - 2007 Saturn Ion
2005 Pontiac G6 plus some from 2006, 2008 and 2009 model years
The recall also includes some service parts that were installed into certain vehicles before May 31, 2010, under a previous recall.
Service appointments will be arranged with the car owners through the dealerships.
