Police say the Good Samaritan likely saved the woman and her dog's life after a house fire in Embro on Thursday night.
EMBRO - Police say a good Samaritan may have saved a life after a house fire in Embro.
A 38 year old woman was sleeping when the fire started and was woken up when a man knocked on her door on Thursday night just after 9. The man was driving by when he noticed the house was on fire.
He was able to wake the woman up and she was safely removed from the burning house, along with her elderly golden retriever dog. OPP say the man likely saved her life.
Oxford OPP Detachment Commander Tony Hymers says they want to thank this Good Samaritan.
"I would like to thank the Good Samaritan that stopped and assisted in helping the owner of the home and her family pet escape without injury. He ultimately saved this women's life and her family pet while putting his own safety at risk."
No word on this time as to the extent of the damage to the home or what caused the fire.
