Woodstock Hydro will be teaching the public how to conserve energy and showcase the future this Saturday.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Hydro will be looking to promote renewable energy and sustainable solutions at their second annual Green Energy Doors Open event.
The event is designed for the whole family and will teach you ways to conserve energy that could help lower your bill. Each person who comes will get a green energy passport that they can get stamped at a number of stations looking at things like electric cars, storage devices and energy from solar and wind. Energy Services Advisor Ian Garrett tells Heart FM why they are hosting this event.
"So the purpose of the event is to educate people on renewable energy, electric mobility and conservation."
Garrett says the event is geared for the whole family and they will have a number of stations set up and passports will be handed out.
"You have to get your passport stamped at each station and once you get your passport stamped, you will be able to enter your passport into a draw for a solar kit that we have as a prize."
He notes the event ties in with what Oxford County is trying to do to become 100 percent reliant on renewable energy by 2050. Officials with Oxford County and the City of Woodstock will be on hand as well to talk about their 2050 initiatives.
The event takes place on Saturday from 10 A.M to 3 P.M. at 16 Graham Street in Woodstock.
