Ernie Hardeman weighs in on proposed changes to beer and liquor sales in the province
OXFORD COUNTY - Ernie Hardeman doesn't believe in driving miles and miles just to purchase a bottle of wine.
This comes as the provincial Liberals tease potential changes to liquor and beer sales in the province.
Oxford MPP's biggest concern is his belief the Liberal's are changing their message -- and plan -- daily.
Hardeman says the challenge he is hearing in the announcements so far is how they propose to let large conglomerates sell liquor and beer in their stores but the average grocery store owner can't sell them in theirs. "I find that very hard to fathom how they would make that a fair system where -- if you have enough money -- you can be the marketer of a product."
Hardeman believes opening up the market some-what makes a lot of sense.
"I think we need to make sure that we have -- you know -- convenience for the consumers who want to make the purchases," says Hardeman. "I also believe that we need to have a system that allows local wine to be sold in our local market place without a great cost to our producers."
