An ongoing investigation by Woodstock Police has resulted in charges and the recovery of stolen motorcycles.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police have recovered stolen motorcycles.

Project IONIQ is an ongoing investigation, and on August 28th at 4 a.m. the Woodstock Police Service Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in London related to the investigation.

As a result, a 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Operation While Prohibited, and Failure to Comply with Release Order. Police recovered two stolen motorcycles, including one reported stolen from Woodstock and one reported stolen from London, as well as various motorcycle parts.

This investigation has been led by the Woodstock Police Service’s dedicated Auto Theft Investigator, which is a specialized position that was created because of the needed response to the growing complexity of vehicle theft and vehicle fraud investigations. Project IONIQ remains ongoing, and has the goal of identifying, investigating and disrupting vehicle theft and related offences.
