A high speed pursuit that started in Norfolk County, ended abruptly in Oxford County. OPP say they received a report around 2 a.m. of a stolen Jeep Cherokee from the Delhi area. A police chase ensued with speeds reaching 160 km/h at time. The driver of the Jeep was swerving on and off the road avoiding spike belts and oncoming traffic. The Jeep ended up colliding with a transport truck on Highway 19 near Sweaburg Road. A police cruiser was also struck during the collision. The driver of the Jeep was ejected from the vehicle and tried to flee the scene on foot but was arrested by police. The suspect and truck driver were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries. No charges have been laid at this point and police say the road will remain closed for a number of hours as their investigation continues.
