Ingersoll's new budget includes capital infrastructure at 6.5 million dollars, with a tax levy increase of 2.33 percent.
INGERSOLL - The capital and operating budget has been approved in the Town of Ingersoll.
The new budget was approved during a special council meeting on February 7th. The new capital infrastructure is 6.5 million dollars, with a tax levy increase of 2.33 percent.
Mayor Ted Comiskey says this is a good increase.
"I know that over the years everybody has realized the road work that has been done in the Town of Ingersoll and knows the effects of it, and it has been superb. It has put us in the position that we are now, is that for the last four to five years we have been one of the lowest increased municipalities in the county and overall we will not be the highest-taxed community anymore. And it's just because of this council's responsibility towards making things work for the future."
With the tax levy increase, houses with an average price of $218,500, will see an increase of $34.00 in 2019.
Comiskey adds they will continue to invest in the town's infrastructure.
"The continuation of the infrastructure that we're doing is not going to slow down. We're going to continue that on until our roads are up to date and the best possible for the safe and well-being of the community."
The budget was approved after four budget meetings, which began in October last year.
