WOODSTOCK - One local business owner is opening her doors to the less fortunate.
This coming Sunday Let's Eat Cake will try something they have never done before. Owner of the business, Rene Hoelscher, will attempt to feed 100 people who cannot otherwise afford a meal.
"We've actually put together a dinner for the less fortunate and homeless, we've had customers come in and buy dinner tickets for them. We have 3 seating's at 2, 4 and 6pm so that the people that use the soup kitchen can come in and have a dinner.''
Hoelscher is pleased with the support she has receive from the community.
"This is the first time we have done something to this magnitude, we haven't done a dinner before. We do have a pay it forward program in the store, where people donate or they buy sandwiches or coffees for people so that has always been ongoing. We have challenged everyone to buy tickets and it has been tremendous." Hoelscher is hopeful this event will take off so they can hold more and ensure that no one in Woodstock will go hungry.
With over overwhelming success Hoelscher is excited to see how the everything will go.
"I think it has been really good, we are helping people who are struggling to get by. I think it has also brought everybody together as a community, everybody has been helping one another and feeling good about it. I'm hoping we have everyone come and use it, we have enough money to feed 100 people."
More money is always welcomed at Let's Eat Cake that is located at 478 Dundas Street in Woodstock as everyone is encouraged to use their pay it forward program.
