A 59 year old man originally from Chatham, Ontario is walking across the country. Bhaktimarga Swami calls himself the Walking Monk. Bhaktimarga Swami, who now resides in Toronto says, "I've walked Canada a few times. I'm on the fourth walk. I did a few other countries: Israel, Ireland, Guyana, Trinidad, and the Fiji Islands," said Swami. You can see him walking through Woodstock today in an orange coloured robe. But the trek is not for fundraising, just to encourage the notion of pilgrimage. "To check the unbalanced lives that we live, I feel there's a need to become a little more introspective and walking really does that a part from the good physical workout you get from it." He walks 30 to 40 kilometres everyday saying it takes 6 to 7 months to travel from Newfoundland to British Columbia.
