The Woodstock Public Library Board announced David Harvie as their new CEO.
WOODSTOCK - There will be a new CEO of the Woodstock Public Library.
The Woodstock Public Library Board made the announcement in a press release on April 10th, selecting Mr. David Harvie as the new CEO.
Harvie says he is very excited to be joining the Woodstock Public Library.
"I'm very excited to be joining the staff at the Woodstock Public Library and meeting the needs of the community."
Upon entering his new role, he says he plans on learning more about the library.
"Woodstock has always had a very good reputation for library service, so I think my first goal will be to get to know the library, the staff, the collections and the community and see what needs can be addressed best by a public library service. So I'm going to have to watch, listen and learn for a bit before jumping in and doing things, I think that's probably the best approach I've found over my time."
Harvie comes to Woodstock after serving in a variety of roles, including a former CEO of the Kawartha Lakes Public Library. He was also in charge of a three branch system with a staff of just 35 people at the Town of Georgina Public Library in Keswick, Ontario.
Board Chair, Ken Whiteford praised Harvie as their new CEO and he says they are pleased to have him become a part the Woodstock Public Library.
"The Board is very pleased that David will be the next CEO of the Woodstock Public Library. David has an exceptional skill set which will go along way towards expanding library services, strengthening community connections and building partnerships. The Board looks forward to working with David as we enter a new phase in the library’s role in a growing Woodstock."
According to the press release, Harvie increased circulation by 12% in the past year at the Georgina Public Library and expanded outreach activities, along with initiating new branding and a new marketing plan.
Prior to his role at the Georgina Public Library, he was the CEO of the Kawartha Lakes Public Library. He was responsible for the operation of a 14 branch system in a restructured County.
Harvie will become the CEO of the Woodstock Public Library on May 13th.
