Woodstock Community Health Centre focuses on promoting good mental health in January.
The weather might not be uplifting, but programs at the Woodstock and Area Community Health Centre are ready to give people a boost.
There are a series of upcoming programs and workshops that are looking to get people healthy in the new year.
Community Outreach Worker Jenilee Cook says, "I think it's a key time in the year that people are out looking for new things and new places that are offering programs. The Woodstock CHC is one of those places."
In January, the focus is on emotional health with a workshop this Wednesday (Jan. 8th) on Stress Management. Later in the month, on January 29th, there is a session called "Bounce Back". Cook says it's about resiliency, and could apply to a number of situations. "How to bounce back, maybe from some stressful holidays. How we bounce back and seek some positivity throughout the rest of the year."
There are also workshops and programs around your eating habits. That includes a 6-week program called "Craving Change" that identifies unhealthy eating behaviour and identifies ways to change.
Cook says all of their activities have the underlying objective of, "Holistically helping you. Whether that's mental health, or emotionally or physically getting you out there an involved in the community. We're offering programs that hit on all aspects of your health."
