$385 539 from the OLG will be going back to the Woodstock community through grants.
WOODSTOCK - The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has made their second quarter non tax gaming revenue payment to the City of Woodstock to the tune of $385 539.
Since OLG Slots moved into the Woodstock Raceway the corporation has paid more than $15.6 million in non-tax gaming revenue to the City. Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch tells Heart FM the money has been great for Woodstock.
"This has been an amazing impact for our city, it has helped with generations for all these various grants that have been given out. It is helping neighbours and making sure that our well being is being taken care of for our next generation of leaders."
Birtch tells Heart FM the money is put right back into the City through community grants.
"For example the Woodstock General Hospital has received contributions from the slots. We also have community grants that people who apply will have the committee check through all the different programs - they are looking for new initiatives."
Birtch says if your agency is thinking about starting up a new program that will reach a different aspect of the community you can apply for one of these community grants.
