OPP Release Labour Day Results

It was a busy four days as OPP Detachments from across the West Region were out patrolling roadways this Labour Day Weekend.

OXFORD COUNTY - It was a busy Labour Day weekend for the West Region OPP.

Between the 4th and 7th, officers across the region made 2,330 traffic stops, while laying 2,142 charges relating to the "Big Four" bad driving behaviours: aggressive driving, failure to wear a seatbelt, distracted driving, and impaired driving. Those numbers are up significantly from 2025, as there were only 2155 traffic stops and 1601 charges. Below is a list of the entire region's 2026 numbers with the 2025 numbers in brackets.

- Speeding-1004 (814)
- Stunt driving - 37 (27)
- Seatbelt - 172 (123)
- Distracted - 11 (5)
- Impaired driving - 52 (50)

The Oxford County Detachment contributed 75 of those charges and broke them down into 41 speeding charges, 30 seatbelt charges, 2 distracted driving charges, and 2 impaired driving charges.

OPP West Region Command thanks drivers who made the right choice to drive safely.
