Respiratory illnesses are starting to pop up, and Southwestern Public Health is reminding residents to get vaccinated.
OXFORD COUNTY - Flu season is here, and Southwestern Public Health is encouraging people to get vaccinated.
SWPH will offer influenza and COVID-19 vaccination clinics this fall at its St. Thomas and Woodstock offices, as well as select community locations throughout the region. Starting today, adults 65 years and older, pregnant individuals, residents and staff of congregate living settings, health-care workers, along with other high-risk and priority populations can begin booking appointments. The general public will be able to book appointments on October 26th.
Flu vaccines are also available through participating pharmacies and health-care providers, while COVID-19 vaccines are available through pharmacies. Residents can book an appointment online by clicking here or by calling 1-800-922-0096.
The Health Unit also has these tips to help prevent the spread of respiratory illness: getting vaccinated against influenza, COVID-19 and RSV, staying home when sick, washing hands regularly, covering coughs and sneezes, and considering wearing a mask in healthcare settings or if at higher risk of severe illness.
Southwestern Public Health has also relaunched its respiratory virus dashboard, which provides up-to-date information in the coverage areas. You can find the dashboard by visiting the Southwestern Public Health website.
