Josh Lenze has been in the ICU with a serious spinal cord injury for two weeks now.
WATERFORD - A GoFundMe page is supporting a young family from Waterford going through a life-changing time.
Josh Lenze is 40-years-old and he had to be airlifted to Hamilton after he was involved in a serious car crash close to his home on October 5th.
His brother Justin Lenze says he suffered a spinal cord injury and he has been in the ICU at Hamilton General Hospital ever since.
"He's paralyzed from the chest down. He can move his arms, but he doesn't have fine motor skills of his hands and we're not sure if he's going to get that back. So he really only has full mobility of his neck and head."
Josh is a loving husband and father to a two-year-old girl, so close friends of the family started the GoFundMe page in hopes of raising $35,000 to support them. As of Tuesday morning, it had already raised over $26,300.
The money will help with short term expenses, and Justin believes it will help enhance his brothers quality of life down the road.
"We're all really committed to making sure he has the best life that he can have. If we can get him a wheelchair that has some more off-road capabilities so he can go on those extra adventures with his daughter, that's the kind of thing I think will be very meaningful."
Justin describes Josh as the coolest big brother ever who has always been very resilient, always keeping a positive when faced with hardships.
Justin says times like this remind you how quickly life can change in an instant, and that you should always be grateful for what you have. He would like to encourage everyone out there to give their friends and family members a big hug next time you see them, and tell them how grateful you are to have them.
