Stolen Easter bunnies, graffiti bandits and a disqualified motorcyclist keep OPP busy over the weekend.
OXFORD COUNTY -- An Easter scheme by two children in Zorra Township has landed a pair of young girls in hot water.
Oxford OPP were called to investigate a theft of two rabbits from a barn on County Road 64 Saturday afternoon.
The rabbits which were purchased as gifts for the owners grandchildren before two female suspects aged 11 and 9 years old from Ingersoll had stolen the rabbits and were trying to sell them.
Both suspects were cautioned and warned in front of their parents. The rabbits were reunited with the owner. The owners two grandchildren, ages 6 and 3, were quite happy to receive their Easter gifts.
Oxford police were also investigating several reports of graffiti sprayed throughout Tillsonburg last week and have now charged two youth with mischief related offences.
Graffiti was discovered Friday morning on three homes, one County of Oxford building, two Town of Tillsonburg road signs, and seven area businesses, including The Tillsonburg Airport.
Two 17 year old boys from Ingersoll and Tillsonburg have both been charged with twelve counts of Mischief Under $5,000.
Both youths who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were released on a Promise to Appear and will appear in Youth Court at a later date.
A London man is facing a long list of charges following a traffic stop on the 401 Monday evening.
OPP stopped a motorcycle on the highway near Oxford Road 29 around 7:30 pm which lead to the arrest of 35 year-old Matthew Dunn. He has been charged with Driving While Disqualified, Failing to Comply with Probation Order, Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, two counts of Driving While Suspended and Use of a Plate not Authorized for Vehicle. Dunn was released on a promise to appear with a future court date. His bike was towed and impounded for 45 days.
