ZORRA TOWNSHIP - A driver in Zorra Township got quite the scare when a wild Turkey flew into their windshield on Road 96 on Saturday evening.
The turkey flew right into the driver's side of the windshield. The driver, a 30 year old man from London was able to stop his vehicle safely without further incident and he was not injured in the collision.
The man is going to need a new windshield though.
Oxford OPP Detachment Commander Tony Hymers says police are urging all drivers to expect the unexpected and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Drivers need to focus their attention on their driving ability and avoid any unnecessary distractions.
"It's not always possible to avoid a collision with an animal, particularly if it suddenly runs or flies onto the road. But drivers can take sensible precautions to minimize the risk of a collision. Motorists are being urged to drive with caution and within the speed limit and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Predictable is preventable, make safety a priority."
