Unifor to Host Municipal Debate for Woodstock

It will be held on October 14th and all of the questions have to be e-mailed to melissa@unifor636.ca by October 5th.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock's municipal election candidates will face off at Unifor Hall.

Unifor Local 636 will be hosting an all candidates meeting and debate on Wednesday October 14th. The evening will be moderated by Brent Thompson, the President of Unifor Local 636.

He says the event it will follow a different format this time around.

"We're going to start at 4:00 p.m. prompt for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor candidates and we're going to end it by 6:00 p.m.. We will have a half hour break to get the city and county-county councillor candidates in and have them seated so we can get started at 6:30 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m.."

Seating for the public will be offered on a first come, first served basis and Thompson says all questions must be e-mailed in advance.

"Everyone that has the right to vote in the City of Woodstock can e-mail their questions to melissa@unifor636.ca no later than 12:00 p.m. on October 5th, so our political action committee can screen all of the questions and we'll get as many questions as we can in the time allotted."

He adds they will not be taking questions from the floor the night of due to the large number of candidates.

The event will be broadcast on Rogers TV for those who are unable to be there in person.

Woodstock voters will head to the polls on October 26th.
