Councillor Mark Schadenberg serve as the Acting Mayor until November 14th, 2026.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council has appointed an Acting Mayor for the very last time.
Councillor Mark Schadenberg will serve as Mayor Jerry Acchione's back up from January 16th to November 14th this year. If the Mayor is unable to chair a meeting or attend an event during that time, Councillor Schadenberg will step in for him.
Councillor Liz Wismer-Van Meer was the Acting Mayor for 2025.
City Council has traditionally appointed a new Acting Mayor each year, but that will change with 2026-2030 term of council.
One of the City-County Councillor positions will be replaced with a Deputy Mayor position. It is similar to an Acting Mayor, but they will be chosen by the voters to stay on for a full council term and they will have a seat on Oxford County Council. The current term of council signed off on that change during a meeting in March 2025.
