Jeremy Smith is hoping for a third term on EZT council
A sense of unfinished business has compelled current ward 3 councillor Jeremy Smith to run for reelection.
Smith, who has sat on East Zorra Tavistock council for two terms so far and feels humbled that some community members have urged him to run for a third term.
Smith says the big issue for him is one he sees time and time again.
"There's that universal challenge that we all face whether you're a family trying to get by or a business looking to succeed, it's attempting to stretch available dollars that are always under pressure in a way that maintains and can build on current service levels in everything we do."
Smith says he has always been involved in grassroots initiatives at a local level.
"Here in Innerkip we have dormant green space that we'd like to engage the community about for prospects in the future as it relates to recreation. Monitoring development as it has begun to take fully hold in the village. One subdivision already underway, another in the future plan."
Smith says sense of service and community building coupled with a good eye and ear for the people in the township who is always accessible are just some of the traits that make him the right man for the position.
Smith is the first person to file papers for ward 3 councillor.
