A new area was launched a year ago at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, and great things have been seen.
TILLSONBURG - It has been one year since Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital launched a new area.
The Rapid Assessment Fast Track area helps reduce delays in the emergency department by focusing on non-urgent issues. Since its launch, the Nurse Practitioner and team have seen over 25-hundred patients in the RAFT. With that number of patients seen, there have been vast improvements, including faster Physician Initial Assessment times, reduced Average Length of Stay, shorter wait times in the emergency department, and a more positive overall patient experience. Director of Clinical Services, Dr. Jamal El Firikh, shares his thoughts on the RAFT
"Over the past year, the RAFT has become a cornerstone of patient flow and care delivery, enabling more timely assessments, strengthening coordination, and elevating the overall patient experience."
A grateful family member was excited for the RAFT and the care that was given.
"The care given to my granddaughter was exemplary. The Nurse Practitioner is such a kind, patient and compassionate professional. We are very fortunate to have access to such a wonderful facility in our community and the outstanding professionals that work there."
The RAFT reduces bottlenecks, optimizes staff and space utilization, and significantly improves overall patient flow, efficiency, and experience.
