Brad Treliving and Jason Spezza are joining Scott Salmond and Kyle Dubas for Team Canada's management team.
CANADA - Recently fired Brad Treliving is back in a management position.
Treliving joins Pittsburgh Penguins assistant general manager and former player Jason Spezza as part of the management team of Team Canada at the upcoming world championships. They will join Hockey Canada's Scott Salmond and Penguins GM Kyle Dubas.
This isn't the first time Treliving has represented Canada, as he helped manage them in 2016. Spezza, however, will make his international management debut.
Treliving served as general manager for nine seasons with the Calgary Flames along with seven seasons as assistant GM with the Phoenix Coyotes and recently, was the GM for the Toronto Maple Leafs for three seasons where he had a 129-77-27 overall record before they recently let him go.
Spezza is currently in his third season as an assistant GM of the Pittsbugh Penguins. He is best known for his playing career where he played 19 years in the NHL for the Ottawa Senators, Dallas Stars, and Toronto Maple Leafs where he recorded 363 goals and 995 points split between the teams.
The IIHF World Championships are scheduled for May 15-31 in Zürich and Fribourg, Switzerland, where Canada will be opening the tournament against Sweden on May 15. Canada will be a part of Group B with Sweden, Czechia, Denmark, Slovakia, Norway, Slovenia, and Italy.
