It's looking to raise $5,000 before June 1st.
TILLSONBURG - The Helping Hand Food Bank is asking for a helping hand from the public this spring.
Coordinator Samantha Hamilton would like to raise $5,000 before June 1st, through the Spring Forward, Give Back campaign.
"That gives us a few months of food, give or take, on how many donations we get in. So I thought over the spring months that's probably what we're going to need to supplement with all of the donations we'll be receiving through Easter."
She adds lots of people have been utilizing the Tillsonburg food bank and that number is likely to rise week over week.
"In a week we are seeing 90 to 100 families come through the door and they can come every two weeks, so that gives you an idea on how many families we're seeing in a month."
Donations can be made online here. You donate cash or a cheque in person by visiting the food bank 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Hamilton says cash donations are preferred, but if you would like to donate food items, please make sure they are not expired. If it's something that you wouldn't want to eat yourself, you shouldn't donate it.
