A new vehicle will be coming off the production line at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Plant in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - It is the beginning of a new production in Woodstock.
The Toyota Manufacturing Plant in the Friendly City is starting to make the sixth generation Toyota RAV4. Manufacturing General Manager, Ryan Westbrook says there are some new jobs being created.
"We are taking on new responsibility by assembling battery packs in-house for the first time at TMMC. The battery modules will be supplied from Toyota's new battery plant in North Carolina, and along with that comes about 16 new team members that will assemble them into finished packs on a new assembly line right here in the Woodstock plant."
Westbrook adds with their work model, they want to maintain production and efficiency with the people that are currently at the plant. He mentions between all departments, approximately 2,500 people are employed at the Woodstock plant. Westbrook went on to talk about the history of the RAV4 in Woodstock.
"We began producing the third generation RAV in 2008. And now 18 years later, we are launching the 6th generation RAV4. To be honest, we're very fortunate to produce such a popular and high-volume vehicle."
Westbrook has been at the plant since day one and says the new investment shows the capability of the team.
